Begin by taking one of the many personality tests that are readily available, such as: DISC, Keirsey Temperment Sorter, or Myers-Briggs, among others. You can find these easily by doing a search on the internet. These tests can give you great insight into your strengths and weaknesses. They help you understand your core values and personality type. Understanding who you are may help you distinguish yourself from the competition and can be the foundation for communicating your unique value and your personal brand.
Your personal brand or image is a combination of your passions, strengths, skills and traits. Spend some time getting to know your self:
• Write a list of your personal passions. What do you love doing? (Is it interior design, teaching, art, music, golfing, football, reading, travel? Don’t worry about whether or not it is work related. )
• What are your skills and talents? (Are you perceptive, spontaneous, theatrical, detail-oriented, organized, do you speak other languages? Again, don’t limit these to your work).
• Write a list of your personal traits. (Perhaps you are punctual, or a “people person”. Are you optimistic, open minded, curious, determined, spiritual, or team oriented? )
Look at your list from your customer’s point of view. Which of these qualities that you have identified would be valuable to your customer? Take those items and use them to help you create a few concise sentences explaining your unique value to your customers.
Use this knowledge to also help you find a niche market something you really love. Is it new construction, foreclosures, first time buyers, seniors, ethnicities, locales? Once you find your niche, become an expert in that area. That doesn’t mean that you can’t sell outside of your niche. However , the more expertise you gain, the more likely you are to become well known in your field. It is not uncommon for other customers even other realtors, to say “Oh, you need Joe. He knows everything about new construction. ” These personal recommendations can be the most inexpensive and effective marketing tools.
Know Your Customer
To be able to truly meet and exceed a customer’s needs and wants you have to know that customer. In your effort to gain this knowledge you need to gather information. The more you know the more you can meet your customer’s needs, both stated and unstated.
Start broadly and then get more specific. A good source for information is the National Association of Realtors® Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers. It has chapters on the characteristics of home buyers and sellers.
Then, start to narrow your research. Learn about the community in which you sell. Become involved in community events. Pitch in,support and help your community grow, while learning about its unique qualities. These activities not only help you learn about the community, they bolster your image as a valuable member. People like to do business with helpful people they know and with whom they can identify.
After you understand the broad information about your customers and their communities, you need to listen to what they say. Sounds easy, doesn’t it? Customers often complain about feeling the agent didn’t listen carefully to their requests or needs. Listening is an art. It goes beyond the obvious. Customers aren’t always great at communicating clearly; they sometimes don’t even know what they really want or need. You need to listen with all your senses in order to unearth and translate their true needs and wants. It isn’t sufficient to just hear the words your customers say. You need to watch body language, be sensitive to tone of voice and try to interpret their sometimes vague descriptions. By asking carefully constructed questions you can actually help the customer better understand his or her needs.

Customers are becoming more and more demanding. You need a team that meets these ever increasing demands. Customers expect you to recommend the RIGHT person for their needs. These people must not only match your personal brand/image (they are in effect representing you), they also must have unique qualities that meet the needs of your customer. I know of one Realtor who has three mortgage brokers he trusts and recommends. He has a “three piece suit guy, ” he has a HOG (Harley owners group) and a dynamic woman. He mixes and matches the team member to the specific customer. This is done so that each customer can feel totally comfortable. Budget Crunch (Part I): Building a Round Pen on an Extreme Budget
Building a round pen for our equine friends can be an expensive proposition. Depending on the posts, rail, footing and size of the round pen it can all quickly add up to serious dollars. Recently, I’ve had a lot people ask me, “How can I build a Round Pen on a really tight Budget? ” So , let’s take a look and find out…
The first part of our puzzle is the posts. The most economical option here is to use regular, wooden landscape posts. These are what you would typically use for your backyard or garden projects. As you can imagine, they are not necessarily meant for long-term wear and abuse. Furthermore, landscape posts are not made of the highest quality wood and many times you will find many defects in the wood itself.
However, don’t let this scare you off if money is an issue. For a temporary solution they will work just fine.
Tip: Spend an extra $15 - $20 and buy 4” pressure treated post for your gate posts. In a very short amount of time, you will be delighted that you did.
Consider landscape posts your lowest cost and a somewhat temporary solution. Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day! Landscape posts are an excellent way to get started building a horse round pen and later on, you can always upgrade your materials as your Budget allows.
The second part of our round pen puzzle is the rails. Use 4” (preferably 4. 25”) vinyl rail with integrated metal wire. It usually comes in rolls of 300 – 600 feet. This type of vinyl horse fence is made to withstand a significant amount of force and it holds up incredibly well in the elements over the years. Vinyl has the advantage being a very low maintenance item to use. In fact , you may have noticed that many people nowadays use 2-rail vinyl fences for outlining their property and general landscaping.
Purchase enough vinyl horse fencing to complete a 3-rail round pen. For example , if you are building a 50 foot round pen, you’ll need approximately 440 feet. Don’t forget to back out the gate measurement - you will build your gate out of wood and it will match your round pen fence perfectly. Budget around $50 for your gate supplies and materials.

It may sometimes be a bit difficult to keep the fly from sinking or dragging because of the various conditions of the current, but this is a matter that the angler will have to figure out for himself.
3. It is not good practice when fishing for trout to fish directly upstream so the flies, line, and leader will float directly over fish. The fisherman should make the cast from one side of the stream so the fly will only float over the fish.
4. It is important to make the first cast the best. A feeding trout will usually strike the first lure presented if it is cast so that it will float over his private domain. The angler should never fail to fish the lower end of the pool first even if the trout are rising in the middle or upper end.

There are some things that the House of Representatives are trying accomplish that should be supported in my opinion. Here is a hotlist of good legislation that is on the books.
These are not the only good things that could be done, and new legislation may be introduced periodically throughout the session, but these are those most promising:
10. H. R. 106 -- Public Official Accountability Act
This bill provides for an extra two year penalty for any public elected or appointed official convicted of bribery, fraud, extortion, or theft of public funds greater than $10, 000, not a mandatory, just an extra tool available to the judge.
9. H. R. 61 -- Coach Act of 2011
This bill is to amend title 5 of the United States Code, to require Federal employees to use coach-class air travel in the United States except in limited circumstances.
8. H. R. 54 -- Stand by your Oil Pollution Act or the STOP Act.
To amend the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 to extend liability to corporations, partnerships, and other persons having ownership interests in responsible parties, make the corporations pay.
7. H. R. 47 -- Classified Information Accountability Act of 2011 or CIA Act.
This is legislation to provide a civil penalty for certain misrepresentations made to Congress by a person employed by the intelligence community, a $10, 000 fine to be exact.
6. H. R. 109 -- To establish a national commission on presidential war powers and civil liberties.
This is a commission to investigate the broad range of executive branch national security policies undertaken since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, such as torture, wiretaps, etc, etc .

Allows teachers to take a $500 larger deduction for material they buy for their classrooms, the language is not very specific, it only says the deduction is for “certain expenses of elementary and secondary school teachers”, but it’s a good start.
I would like to see it expanded to upper level education too, but for now this is pretty advantageous.

This bill is to require a minimum standard of care by insurance companies for all persons with breast cancer, including extending the hospital stay to up to 48 hours if a doctor deems its needed and other benefits.

This bill is to raise awareness of eating disorders and to create educational programs in schools to help students learn and avoid these devastating diseases.
